Der Mann im Lehnstuhl

Saß einst in seinem Lehnstuhl still Ein viel gelehrter Mann, Und um ihn trieben Knaben Spiel Und sahn ihn gar nicht an. Sie spielten aber Steckenpferd, Und ritten hin und her: Hopp, hopp! und peitschten unerhört, Und trieben 's Wesen sehr. Der Alte dacht' in seinem Sinn: "Die Knaben machen's kraus; Muß sehen lassen wer ich bin." Und damit kramt' er aus; Und machte ein gestreng Gesicht, Und sagte weise Lehr. Sie spielten fort, als ob da nicht Mann, Lehr, noch Lehnstuhl wär. Da kam die Laus und überlief Die Lung' und Leber ihm. Er sprang vom Lehnstuhl auf, und rief Und schalt mit Ungestüm: "Mit dem verwünschten Steckenpferd! Was doch die Unart tut! Still da! ihr Jungens, still, und hört! Denn meine Lehr ist gut." Kann sein, sprach einer, weiß es nicht, Geht aber uns nichts an. Da ist ein Pferd, komm reite mit; Dann bist du unser Mann.
