Unstet bin ich, ein Wandrer,
und mein Herz gewöhnt sich an keinen Ort.
Wenn ich erwache am Morgen,
frag' ich mich oftmals, wo ich denn bin.

Kann ich Ruh'loser nicht zur Stunde
einsam schweben weit im fremden Meere?
Oder kann mich nicht wiegen liebliche Bergluft?
Fremde kann es sein oder die Heimat,
wirtliches Haus oder ein rauhes,
Liebe kann mich bergen oder Hass.
