Am Heiligenbild

Jeden Abend, wenn's Nacht wird, schleicht sie heran
und zündet das Lämpchen vorm Marienbild an.
Es rasselt das Kettlein, es flackert das Licht,
durch die dunkle Gasse glänzt ihr Gesicht.
Und sie stellt einen Strauß von Blumen davor
und stammelt und seufzt ihr Gebet empor:
Ach, heilige Mutter, mir ist so schwer!
Geleit meinen Schatz übers tyrrhenische Meer.
