Liebesnacht

Schwer tränt der Regen von den dunklen Zweigen, 
Die über unser'n Häuptern tief sich breiten. 
Die Blätter neigen sich im Trauerreigen 
Wie flüchtige Schatten, die vorübergleiten. 

Das tat der Sturm mit seinen Geißelhieben, 
Der hier uns wild im Wetter trieb zusammen. 
Er schwieg, und nur der Regen ist geblieben, 
Zu löschen uns'rer heißen Liebe Flammen. 

Er aber lehrte uns mit seinem Weinen 
Den Wonnebecher schäumend auszutrinken,
In Nacht und Einsamkeit uns zu vereinen, 
Gluttrunken, bebend Brust an Brust zu sinken.
