by Karl Röttger (1877 - 1942)

Hoffnung
Language: German (Deutsch)
Was der Engel mir verkündet,
War ich vordem schon; die Jahre runden
Langsam sich zu eins -- aus allen Weiten,
Aus der Ewigkeit und aus den Zeiten
Rundet das Herz des Kinds; in Weltenweiten
Wächst des Kindes Seele... Um mich breiten
Sich des Vaters blaue Einsamkeiten.

Meiner Wunder harr' ich ... Wenn das Kleine,
Das ich meine, nun bald seine
Augen glänzend in die Welt aufbricht,
Wenn aus seinem Kinderangesicht
Und aus seinem Blick mir widerstrahlt:
Gottes Tiefe, Gottes Allgewalt.
