by Friedrich Heinrich Oser (1820 - 1891)

Selige Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Leise vorüber am hohen Dom
Fern im Dunkeln gleitet der Strom.
Tiefer im Thal
Blickt tröstend ein Strahl
Auf's Wellengeschäume
Durch Wolken und Bäume.
Wie der Strom da lacht!
O wonnige Pracht!
O selige Nacht!

Froher nun schimmert des Mondes Glanz,
Alles Dunkel verschwindet ganz.
Drunten im Thal
Weilt taghell der Strahl,
Bringt Lieder um Lieder
Vom Himmel hernieder.
Wie der Strom erst lacht:
O wonnige Pracht!
O selige Nacht!

Confirmed with Neue Lieder von Friedrich Oser, Basel: M. Bernheim, 1885, pages 76 - 77.
