by Julius Karl Reinhold Sturm (1816 - 1896)

Hoffe!
Language: German (Deutsch)
Als ich ein Kind noch war,
hüpft ich mit leichtem Sinn,
Augen und Stirne klar,
fröhlich durch Dornen hin.

Aber wie regt mein Zorn
sich so gewaltig jetzt,
wenn mir im Gehn ein Dorn
Fuß oder Hand verletzt!

Sei nicht so töricht, Herz,
trag's und gedulde dich,
macht doch nur flüchtgen Schmerz
neckender Dornenstich.

Glaube: Nach kurzer Zeit
da blühn am Dornenstrauch
dir, wenn es lenzt and mait,
Rosen mit duftgem Hauch.
