Fliege, du Vögelein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Fliege, du Vöglein, ziehe nur hin!
Hast du doch Schwingen, darfst du doch zieh'n!
Rosen, die süssen, blüh'n ja nicht mehr;

Hast du doch Schwingen, darfst du doch zieh'n!

Text Authorship:

  • by Robert Hamerling (1830 - 1889) [author's text not yet checked against a primary source]

Musical settings (art songs, Lieder, mélodies, (etc.), choral pieces, and other vocal works set to this text), listed by composer (not necessarily exhaustive):

  • by Franz Wilhelm Abt (1819 - 1885), "Fliege, du Vögelein", op. 176a (4 Duetten für Sopran und Alt (oder Tenor und Bass) mit Pianoforte) no. 1, published 1861 [ vocal duet with piano ], Offenbach, André; note: this opus was used later for another set, so we have added an 'a' to it. [sung text checked 1 time]
