by Rudolph Baumbach (1840 - 1905)

Du grünes lust'ges Waldgezelt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du grünes lust'ges Waldgezelt,
Fahrwohl! Ich muß dich lassen.
Ich zieh' hinaus in die weite Welt,
Das Glück beim Schopf zu fassen.
   Hab' waidgerecht
   Als Jägerknecht
Geübt das edle Gejaide;
   Jetzt zieh ich aus
   Zu Kampf und Strauß
Auf blutgetränkter Haide.

Es saß ein grauer Falk im Hag,
Gelähmt durch bösen Zauber.
In Trauer saß er Nacht und Tag
Und girrte wie ein Tauber.
   Um einen Horst
   Im grünen Forst
Die Freiheit wollt' er tauschen. -
   Vorbei, vorbei.
   Flieg' wilder Weih
Und laß die Flügel rauschen.
