by Rainer Maria Rilke (1875 - 1926)

Abend im Dorfe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sieh, wie fern im dämmerdüstern
Wald die Sonne sich verlor.
Ruh’ im Dorfe. — Leise flüstern
Hausgenossen noch am Tor.

All das blanke Werkgeräte
Steht im reinen Hofe still;
Manchmal stört noch eine späte
Kuh das trauliche Idyll.

Eine heil’ge, gottgeweihte
Rast, — der Müh’ des Tages wert.
Selbst die Straße scheint, die breite,
Wie getüncht fast, wie gekehrt.

Pfeifend treibt ein Gänsehirte
Heim die weiß beschwingte Schar . . .
Hoch der müde, lichtdurchflirrte
Himmel oben — weit und klar.

Confirmed with Rainer Maria Rilke, Rainer Maria Rilke: Gesammelte Werke, Edition Lempertz, 2012
