possibly by Johan Sebastian Cammermeyer Welhaven (1807 - 1873)

Julemorgen
Language: Norwegian (Bokmål)
Jeg stod en Julemorgen taus og ene
og læned Hovedet mod Kirkemuren,
mat slog mit Hjerte, blegnet laa Naturen,
min Taare brændte paa de kolde Stene,
da lig en Aandeskares Hosianna
frembruste Orglets Tonehav derinde,
og Stormen gik i Kirkegaardens Linde,
og, Sneen lyste som et himmelsk Manna.
Og Stjernen saa jeg over Huset tindre
og gjennem Stormens Flugt og Orglets
Tone jeg hørte Menighedens fromme Psalmer.
Da sank en stille Lindring i mit Indre
et varrligt Vift af Evighedens Palmer
og bedende jeg stod for Herrens Throne.

Note: score says "Welhavens seldre Digte."
