Muro che cinge la villa
Tralci dai grappoli d'or:
Candida al par de la neve
Sta la tua casa tranquilla,
Sola tra l'erbe ed i fior'.

È questo il sedile ove stanchi
Daccanto posammo talor:
Ahi nulla è mutato! ma sola tu manchi,
Ed io non ti vedo che dentro il mio cor!

Suona or vicina, or lontana
Voce tra i campi e si perde
Come un lamento gentil:
Mormora ancor la fontana,
Mentre si leva tra il verde
L'acqua in un getto sottil.

Cosparse di petali bianchi
Le aiuole sorridono ancor:
Qui nulla è mutato! ma sola tu manchi,
Ed io non ti vedo che dentro il mio cor!
