Comme l'hirondelle effleurant la rive,
Bien loin, pour toujours, il s'en est allé,
Et seule, aujourd'hui, je chante plaintive
L'amour d'autrefois si vite envolé !

Près des clochetons que le soleil dore,
Je m'en viens rêver à ton doux serment ;
Mais toi ! penses-tu quelquefois encore
A ce blanc lotus, qui meurt en t'aimant ?

Voici donc l'adieu de celle qui t'aime:
Ô mon bien aimé, sois heureux sans moi,
Et je dormirai, pâle chrysanthème,
Avec un sourire en rêvant de toi.
