Einst hatt' ich einen Freund so lieb, Daß mir der Tag verloren blieb, An dem mir nicht an seiner Hand Ein Stündchen schwand. Und zog vergnügt ich dann davon, So rief ich oft in trautem Ton: Kommst morgen du nicht leicht zu mir, Komm ich zu dir. So lebten wir durch lange Zeit In ungetrübter Seligkeit, Bis ihn der Träger schwarzer Zug Zum Kirchhof trug. Da schwebten mir am Friedhofstor In einem fort die Worte vor: Kommst morgen du nicht leicht zu mir, Komm ich zu dir.
