Kvelding
Language: Norwegian (Nynorsk)
Snøen fell
i graae Kveld
stilt or mjuke Lufti.
Stilt og tett,
lint og lett,
legg som Dunseng mjuk og slett
dunkvit yver Tufti.

Veslemøy
vondlar Høy
i den myrka Løda.
Nisselaatt
kvìsar smaatt;
Tuftekall seg likar godt,
naar Buskap fær si Føda.

Gamal Kar
han er i Gard;
strengt han all Ting agtar.
Fylgde blid
fraa fyrste Tid
med i baade Stræv og Strid,
og helst han Fjose vaktar.

Difor òg
veit han fjaag
kva han hev i Vente.
Graae-Kropp,
Raue-Topp
kvar den Kveld sin Mjølke-Kopp
fær av snilde Gjente.

Mat ho ber
til Kui kjær,
og kvar og ei ho kjæler.
Gjerne ho
stullar so:
altid var ho dyregod
og aldri for Nissen fæler.

Varme Brunn
til tyrste Munn
hit fraa Eldhus ber ho.
Fær so snøgt
Ljos i Lykt,
mjølkar Kui lognt og trygt,
og breddfull Bytta fær ho.

Stelt og god
Kui so
roar seg til Nattenn'
Jortar smaatt,
legg seg godt;
Tuften kjem med enn ein Dott;
dansar so med Katten.
