Nachtgedanken
Language: German (Deutsch)
Still ist's! Am fernen Himmel
erscheint der Sterne Pracht,
es schweigt das Weltgetümmel,
rings herrscht die dunkle Nacht!

Ein süsser Engelsfrieden
liegt auf dem Erdenland,
auch mir werd' er beschieden
von meines Gottes Hand!

Er sah in meinem Herzen
der Liebe Sehnsuchtsdrang,
er sah in der Seele Schmerzen,
die nach dem Frieden rang!

Beim stillen Nachtgebete
ward mir so wohl zu Muth',
für dich und mich erflehte
ich Gottes Schutz und Huth!
