Slättens tystnad en vårkväll, när sol gått ned -- stilla på ändlösa tegar spirar sådden, vårdagsvinden sofver och allt är fred. Tvänne rapphöns locka, dolda i brådden. Vägen löper ut likt ett gråhvitt band fjärran mot slättens öppna himlarand. Lätta, lätta kännas i afton stegen på den stilla doftande vårkvällsvägen.
