by Theodor Storm (1817 - 1888)

Sind wir nun so jung beisammen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Sind wir nun so jung beisammen
In der holden Morgenfruh,
Süßes, rosenrotes Mündchen,
Plaudre, plaudre immerzu!

Organiste sollt ich werden
An dem neuen Kirchlein hier? --
Kind! wer geigte dann den Finken
Feiertags im Waldrevier?

Doch du meinest, Amt und Würden,
Eigner Herd sei goldeswert! --
Machst du mich doch schier beklommen;
So was hab ich nie begehrt.

Was? Und auch der Stadttrompeter
Starb vergangne Woche nur?
Und du meinst, zu solchem Posten
Hätt ich just die Positur? --

Hei! Wie kräht der Hahn so grimmig!
Schatz, ade! Gedenk an mich!
Mach den Hahn zum Stadttrompeter!
Der kann's besser noch als ich!
