by Pieter Nicolaas van Eyck (1887 - 1954)

Een graf
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Stilte,
Verlatenheid,
't Gebons
Van de hartslag.

Een graf,
Gepleisterd,
Wit in het kalkig
Wit licht van de middag.

Een roep.
‘Vriend, vriend, ontwaak!
Ziel in het graf, mijn vriend, mijn makker,
Kom tot mij:
Nog ene maal
De stem die ik liefhad,
De blik die ontroerde!’

Ik luister.

Wit
Ligt verpulverd pleister
Neer op de geurige
Kruiden en bloemen,
Brokkige melaatsheid der
Schilferende tombe!

Geen antwoord.

Enkel 't gebons
Van een angstige hartslag,
In de verlatenheid,
De stilte.

Confirmed with P.N. van Eyck, Verzameld werk. Deel 2 , G.A. van Oorschot, Amsterdam 1958, page 20
