by Heinrich Heine (1797 - 1856)

Kitty stirbt! und ihre Wangen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kitty stirbt! und ihre Wangen
Seh ich immer mehr erblassen.
Dennoch kurz vor ihrem Tode
Muß ich Ärmster sie verlassen.

Kitty stirbt! und kaltgebettet
Liegt sie bald im Kirchhofsgrunde.
Und sie weiß es - Doch für andre
Sorgt sie bis zur letzten Stunde.

Sie verlangt, daß ich die Strümpfe
Nächsten Winter tragen solle,
Die sie selber mir gestrickt hat
Von der wärmsten Lämmerwolle.
