by Rudolph Baumbach (1840 - 1905)

Irrung
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Meine Sonne wurdest du,
Ich ward ein Planete,
Der sich ohne Rast und Ruh
Um die Sonne drehte.

Einmal blieb ich sonnenfern
Vierundzwanzig Stunden.
Mittlerweile war mein Stern
Ohne Spur verschwunden.

Und von meinem Augenpaar
Schuppe fiel auf Schuppe.
Meine Lebenssonne war
Nichts als eine Schnuppe.

Confirmed with Rudolf Baumbach, Spielmannslieder, Leipzig: Verlag von A. G. Liebeskind, 1883, page 16.
