by Johann Christoph Biernatzki (1795 - 1840)

Aus der Novelle "Die Hallig"
Language: German (Deutsch)
"Kindlein in des Meeres Wiege,
Eiland an der Wellen Brust!
Scholle du im Weltgebiete,
Meine Heimath, meine Lust!

Keine Waldung dich verhüllet,
Dich kein Felsengürtel hält,
Rings umher die Wasserfülle,
über dir des Himmelt Zelt.

Legst du offen dein Gelände
Hin vor Gottes Angesicht,
Kennst im Kampf der Elemente
And're Wehr und Waffe nicht.

Friede wohnt in deinen Hütten,
Deine Armuth ist dein Glück;
Treu blieb hier der Väter Sitte
In der Enkel Kreis zurück.

Frömmigkeit und Tugend heimen
Gern an deinem stillen Herd,
Wo kein Gut, das andere neiden,
Wo kein Herz, das mehr begehrt.

Kindlein in des Meeres Wiege,
Eiland an der Wellen Brust!
Menschen schiffen kalt vorüber;
Doch der Engel weilt mit Lust!"
