by Friedrich Hermann Frey (1839 - 1911), as Martin Greif

In den Bergen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Felsen in den Lüften oben,
Freut euch, daß ihr hoch erhoben
Ueber dieser Erde steht!
Daß vom lärmenden Getöse
Dieser nicht'gen Weltengröße
Kaum ein Nachhall zu euch weht.

Ferne von des Tages Mühen
Ragt ihr auf in reinem Glühen,
Wenn schon Nacht das Thal verhüllt.
Noch ist uns das Licht verborgen,
Wenn der Sonne Glanz am Morgen
Eurer Rosen Kelch erfüllt.

Stumm von Ewigkeit gethürmte,
Schnee- und wieder Föhnumstürmte
Reicht ihr in den Aether hin!
Eure Gipfel sind im Blauen,
Wenn zu Füßen euch die grauen
Dunkeln Wetterwolken zieh'n.
