Le soleil paraît, le soleil flamboie, 
le faite du bois 
resplendit comme un toit d'or. 
Le coq bat des ailes, 
son chant vous appelle, 
dans le clair matin appelle qui dort. 
Qu'on s'éveille, allons ! bien vite à sa voix ! 
Debout, les héros ! debout, les Danois ! 
Ceignez vos épées ! 
Car "bravoure" et "jour" 
ce sont rimes d'épopée.

Fanfare éclatante, 
la diane chante 
aux guerriers l'appel du jour. 
Comme au vent les drapeaux claquent, 
la flamme s'éploie, et les poutres craquent. 
La flamme mugit, rougit alentour 
la verte forêt de lueurs vermeilles. 
Allons ! qu'on s'éveille ! 
Non pour s'amuser 
chez le prince à deviser ! 
Hydromel ou vin, amoureux ébats, 
ce n'est point pour eux que je vous réveille... 
Non, c'est pour le jeu viril du combat !
