han sejled o di stue Haww, fræ han kons wa en Knæjt,

hans Kuen gik rundt å soold æ Fesk, å hun hjed An-Sofi.

Så wa et da en Vinterdaw, æ Stråend wa frossen te,
Jens gik deruud å stanget Oel å tindt æ Føø ve de!
æ Vind håd wæend sæ, de blæjst op, han tow sæ ett i Wåår,
så knagt æ Is å kam i Drøwt, å no wa Jens i Fåår.

De ræwwnet å de skildes ad, de sukket å de sang,
å Jens, han løew, så stærk han kunnd, å øwwer æ Ræwwner sprang,
men innd o Land stod An-Sofi, hun jamret å tow o:
Åa Jens, åå Jens, mi bette Mand, hwodan skal et dæ go?

Men Jens han kam endda i Land å trasket sinde hjem,
han skjændt o An-Sofi å såå: Mon do æ ve di fem?
A sejlet o de stue Haww, kam åldti godt i Land,
hwo kan do tænk, te a kund drowwn i såen et lille Wand!
