Morte da Luz. Na forja do Poente
um lume em agonia ainda arde.
Entra a subir da Terra abertamente
a grande pastoral do fim da tarde.

E sobe, e alastra-se. Ao luar clemente,
as rãs e os sapos gemem com alarde.
Morreu a Luz. Na forja do Poente
o Lume agonizante já não arde.

Desfaz-se a lua em aspersões de graça.
E em notas sempre as mesmas, sempre irmãs,
passa a Planície, interpretando a Vida.

Passa o motivo da Planície, passa...
Passa na voz dos sapos e das rãs
o tema da Planície indefinida.
