soient les brebis de mon troupeau 
qui, peureux et doux, à toute alarme 
de mon cœur accourent aussitôt. 

Gentiment tu portes à sa bride 
ton chapeau en panier pastoral; 
tout est juste, rien ne m'intimide, 
et mon cœur ne bat pas mal. 

C'est le temps de verser dans ma flûte
tout mon souffle qui se préparait, 
car l'ancienne prude que vous fûtes 
part avec la brute que j'étais. 

Notre jeu me semble tout à nous. 
Et les loups de notre bergerie '
ne sont là que parce qu'à la vie 
d'un si beau berger il faut des loups.
