An deinen Lippen hing ich die ganze Nacht;
kannst du es ahnen, wie du mich selig gemacht?
Du hast mir ein neues Dasein geschenkt,
hast mir den Glauben ins Herze gesenkt
an ein großes, großes, unendliches Glück.
Der Himmel hat sich geschmückt,
uns tausend gold'ne Sterne geschickt.
Die blinken lächelnd auf uns nieder,
ich küsste deine müden Lider,
ich hielt dich fest in meinem Arm,
ich fühlte deinen Atem so warm.
Beseligend, ach, durchschauert es mich,
wir waren beide der Erde entrückt.
Und niemand ahnt, wie sehr wir beglückt!
