by Robert Hamerling (1830 - 1889)

Gemma VII
Language: German (Deutsch)
Selig, wie der See, der helle,
Wiegt den Schwan auf Silberfluten,
Trägt mein Herz die Flammenwelle
Weicher, süßer Liebesgluten.

Holde Flut, zu welchem Strande
Trägst du wohl mein Herz, mein wundes?
Ewig nur zum Blumenrande
Ihres honigsüßen Mundes.

Nicht Philister noch Zelote
Schelte diese Liebesflamme:
Wißt, ich bad' im Morgenrothe;
Während ihr mich sucht im Schlamme!

Liebe hat mein Haupt umschlungen
Wie mit einem Heil'genscheine:
Mir zu Füßen wälzt bezwungen
Sich der Drache -- das Gemeine.
