La preghiera dei bimbi
Language: Italian (Italiano)
       A Victor, a Leonida ed a Tristano
bimbi che allor non erano nati
       dedico oggi (1909).

I bimbi pregano il Signore
ogni sera. I buoni col cuore
gli stolti coi labbri. Il Signore

dorme in una casa lontana,
una casa perduta in fondo
al deserto dei cieli. Angioli

e Santi la occultavan tra loro
con meraviglioso lavoro
di nubi e di lucciole d'oro.

Le preghiere dei bimbi cattivi
si smarriscono dietro il bagliore
de le lucciole; ma quelle de' buoni

trovan la via dell'uscio lontano
a cui bussan lieve con la mano
discreta; ed entrare piano piano

pel buco de la chiave, ne' nidi
de gli uccelli s'ascondon com'essi
aspettando che Iddio si risvegli.
