Ach, wie der Himmel so tief und so blau,
grünend die Hügel und duftend die Au';
könnt' ich wie Lüfte von Veilchen verweh'n
und in dem Strom des Entückens vergeh'n!

Blumen, o Blumen, was regt sich in euch?
Fühl' ich beinah' doch euch zarten mich gleich.
Himmlischer Balsam entquillt euch mit Lust,
Balsam des Liedes entquillt meiner Brust.

Blumen, o Blumen, so möcht' ich vergeh'n!
Liederduft müsste dem Busen entweh'n,
dann schlösse die Blume sich freundlich und sacht,
duftend verschwebet der Geist in der Nacht.
