Hör du augusti sommarregn 
lätt i den ljusa natten, 
som i en vacker riddarsägn
en halfsöfd springbrunns vatten? 
Och alla blommor öppna sig 
för dropparne, som kvälla, 
till hjärtana på dig och mig 
låt också flödet välla. 

Tänk, gamla barnrim regnet kan 
om lek och hök och dufva, 
om prinsen, som prinsessan vann 
den trotsiga och ljufva --.
Så lös ditt hår och mot min kind 
din bleka kind lägg stilla, 
och först när regnet somnat in 
vårt famntag domnar, lilla.
