Es geht so Mancher Dir vorbei, und sieht Dein Angesicht, er geht, es ist ihm einerlei, er kennt Dich eben nicht. Und ich sitz' hier und sehne mich, ich sähe Dich so gern, für einen Gruß, was gäbe ich, und wär's auch nur von fern. Wie Manche giebt es, die zu Zwei'n zusammen fest gebannt, und möchten doch geschieden sein durch tausend Meilen Land. Und ich, ich streck' die Arme aus vergebens wohl nach Dir, und darf doch nicht zu Dir hinaus, und Du darfst nicht zu mir.
