by Alice Dändliker (b. 1851), as Martina Albert

Ich möcht' ein duftend Blümlein sein
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich möcht' ein duftend Blümlein sein,
Im Lenze hold erblüht,
Das mit dem ersten Sonnenstrahl
In stiller Pracht erglüht.

Im Mittagsstrahl entfaltet' ich
Der Blätter reichen Kranz,
Und lachte bis zum Abend dann
In meinem schönsten Glanz.

Doch wenn die Sonne leis versinkt,
Dann ging' auch ich zur Ruh',
Und schlöß' im milden Abendweh'n
Die Blumenäuglein zu.

Das Heimchen säng' am Wiesenbord
Mir sanft ein Schlummerlied.
O selig, wer da Blumen gleich
Aus diesem Leben schied!
