by Victor Hugo (1802 - 1885)
Translation Singable translation by Anonymous / Unidentified Author

Without thee
Language: English  after the French (Français)
Without thee life has no charm, dear,
Without thee I know but pain;
Lonely through the day I wander,
Till I see thy smile again.

How could I exist without thee,
Shouldst thou from my presence go?
Is it not thy spirit, dear one,
Gives me life? I do not know.

When beneath the bright sun straying,
Or in the shady groves among,
Round thee like thy guardian angels,
Hover both my prayer and song.

Without thee life has no charm, dear,
Without thee I know but pain;
Lonely through the day I wander,
Till I see thy smile again.

Sad of heart I am without thee,
And gone the light from out the skies;
Life is naught without thy kisses,
And tears my lot without thine eyes!

This is a singable translation from a d'Hardelot score.
