Wie die Welt vermählet Mann und Weib,
Ewig lebt das Paar, das ich vermähle;
Sinke dann in's Grab der morsche Leib.

Eile freudig, deine Braut zu schmücken,
Dichtergeist entflammter Bräutigam!
Teil', o Braut, des Bräutigams Entzücken,
Und er teile deinen stillen Gram!

Geist, durch Höll' und Himmel einst verschlagen!
Diese Kette hat dir not getan.
Seele du, versunken im Entsagen!
Dieser Flügel trägt dich himmelan.

Lebet in einander, o ihr beiden,
Geist beseelt, begeistert Seele du!
Was Gott fügte, soll der Mensch nicht scheiden,
Und dem Bund sah Gott vom Himmel zu.
