by Julius Becker (1811 - 1859), as Julius Becker

Der Wandrer und die Wolken
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Wolken fliehen so schaurig
am nächtlichen Himmel einher,
der Wanderer ziehet so traurig
des dunkeln Weges daher.

Sie ziehen vom Sturm getrieben -
wohin? Was fragst du darnach?
Der Wandrer, von Schmerzen getrieben,
er zieht den Wolken nach.

Die Sterne sind alle verschwunden,
sie lächeln durch Wolken nicht,
dem Wandrer sein Hoffen geschwunden,
denn Liebe lächelt ihm nicht.

Ihr Wolken, Wolken könnt weinen,
in Tränen euch Tröstung fließt:
Der Wandrer, er kann nicht weinen,
weil er zu elend ist.
