Heimkehr
Language: German (Deutsch)
Jubelnde Stimmchen und lachende Augen,
Wehende Löckchen und rosige Wangen,
Rundliche Arme, die voller Verlangen
Schultern und Nacken und Haupt mir umfangen --
O der seligen Heimkehr!
Die Thüren alle mit Grün umsäumt,
Und aus den Winkeln lacht so verträumt
Die Stille mich an und die Einsamkeit --
Da zieht eine betende Dankbarkeit
Mir tief in die ruhlose Seele hinein:
Gott, lasse mich werth solcher Heimkehr sein!

Confirmed with Anna Ritter, Gedichte, Neunte Auflage, Stuttgart und Berlin: J.G. Cotta'sche Buchhandlung Nachfolger, 1900, page 164.
