by Georg Herwegh (1817 - 1875)

Ob die Locken eine Glorie quellen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ob die Locken eine Glorie quellen
Und dein Antlitz und du himmlisch mild
Auf mich blickst, ein stumm Marienbild,
Das zwei blaue Sterne fromm erhellen;

Ob dein Haar in ungebundnen Wellen
Um den Nacken flutet, stolz und wild,
Und dein Aug' ein harter Demantschild,
Dran die kühnsten Wünsche jach zerschellen;

Ob ich sehe mit dem Heil'genscheine
Dich, ob mit des Unmuts düstrer Falte,
Ewig, ewig fleh' ich nur das eine:

Daß dein schöner Mund doch nie erkalte,
Daß dein schönes Auge niemals weine,
Und mir Gott dein schönes Herz erhalte.
