by Ernst Scherenberg (1839 - 1905)

Zur Stunde der Gespenster
Language: German (Deutsch)
Zur Stunde der Gespenster --
Wie ich einsam wach;
Der Tauwind streift an's Fenster,
Es rieselt leis vom dach.

Geliebte Schatten nicken,
Umschweben mich und nahn,
Mit längst erloschnen Blicken
Sehn sie mich fragend ein.

Aus längst verstummtem Munde
Grüßt sanfter Liebeshauch,
Weckt längst verklungne Kunde
In tiefster Seele auch.

Da schmilzt die starre Rinde,
In der das Herz geklopft,
Von feuchten Wimpern linde
Verschwiegne Träne tropft.

Zur Stunde der Gespenster --
Wie bin ich einsam wach;
Der Tauwind streift an's Fenster,
Es rieselt leis vom Dach.
