by Julius Hart (1859 - 1930)

Nachtnebel dunkelt überm Moor
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nachtnebel dunkelt überm Moor,
Im Weidenbusche stöhnt es bang,
Dumpfraunend streicht Septemberwind
Am knappen Heidegras entlang,
Stumm gingen wir hindurch die Nacht,
Leis hallte unser Schritt am Grund,
Und was das Herz so traurig macht,
Verschlossen hielt es unsern Mund.

Ihr leises Weinen hört' ich nur,
Doch wagt' ich nicht sie anzuschaun;
Uns glänzt kein Stern und blüht kein Glück,
Wer arm ist, soll auf Glück nicht baun ...
O küsse mich zum letztenmal,
Eh' dies mein Herz verdorrt. - Vergehn
Laß die Erinnerung an mich,
Weh uns, daß wir uns je gesehn!
