Mit elskte barn
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Mit elskte barn, du himlens gave,
sov sødt, nyd uskylds blide ro;
dig spæde blomst i livets have
jeg pleje vil så ømt og tro.

Mit øje kærligt på dig hviler,
din søvn, jeg synes, styrker mig,
og når du vågen til mig smiler,
o, da er jeg så lykkelig!

Jeg beder Gud dig vil bevare,
han er jo barnets bedste ven,
at han vil fjerne nød og fare
og lede dig ad banen hen.

Voks op mit barn, men ej du glemme,
at himlen er dit rette hjem!
Følg altid dydens blide stemme,
da går du trygt mod målet frem.

Og venskab, fred og stille glæde
dig følge vil på tidens hav;
og gode ville dig begræde,
når du har brudt din vandringsstav.
