by Moritz Saint-Thomas (b. c1813)

Die Sterne
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ihr Stern', ihr kleinen Sterne,
Ihr habt mir's angethan,
Was schaut ihr aus der Ferne
So seelenvoll mich an!

Ich möcht' in Schlummer sinken
Und ruhn in Blumen hier,
Doch scheuchet euer Blinken
Den Schlaf vom Auge mir.

Ich müßt' mich euch entziehen,
Und zürnen müßt' ich euch,
Daß euer zaubrisch Glühen
Das Herz mir macht so weich.

Und doch schau' ich so gerne,
So gern zu euch hinan;
Ihr Stern', ihr kleinen Sterne,
Ihr habt mir's angethan.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Moritz Saint-Thomas, Göttingen, gedruckt in der Dieterichschen Univ-Buchdruckerei, 1849, page 263.
