Am Fenster

Wir standen am Fenster .. ein kühler Wind
Streichelte deine Locken,
Er schlief bald ein wie ein müdes Kind,
Und die Welt war still und erschrocken.

Wir sangen beide hinaus in die Nacht
Die deutschen, traurigen Lieder,
Es war sehr schwül, und in goldblauer Pracht
Irrten Blitze hernieder.

Die Spitzen an deiner weißen Brust
Wogten und zitterten leise,
Tiefschwer verklang in dem nächtigen Dust
Die alte, weinende Weise.

Und es schlief der Wind und er regte sich nicht,
Und es schliefen auch deine Locken,
Nur das blaue Gold umglomm dein Gesicht,
Und die Nacht war still und erschrocken...
