Lag sommerstill die blühende Gartenflur,
Unfern im duftigen blauen Fliederkranz
Sang durch die Abendluft ein Sprosser nur.
Levkojenkronen waren um uns her
Und heimlich rauschend rann das Zeitenmeer,
Da warst du jung ...

Die Uhren hoben sich zum Schlage fern,
Der Sprosser strich im Fluge uns vorbei,
Und durch die Wolken brach ein blauer Stern,
Als ob ein Auge aufgeschlagen sei
Hin durch die schauernd-stille Abendruh
Ging nur dein Atem, wehend immerzu,
Da warst du jung ...
