Die Sonne hüllt in Nebel sich, Will wieder schlafen gehn, Die Blumen, die der Thau geküßt, Im Felde traurig stehn. Es birgt der Halm sein grünes Haupt, Die muntre Lerche schweigt; Kein Sänger auf zum Himmelszelt Mit frohem Liede steigt. Mein Herz erzittert wehmuthvoll, Und doch so seltsam kalt, Denn über Nacht -- ja über Nacht, Da ist es worden alt. Die Sonne hüllt in Nebel sich! Bald braust der Sturm daher, Und meine Lieb' und meine Ruh' Ich find sie nimmermehr!
