by (Carl Friedrich) Julius Altmann (1814 - 1873)

Ich wollte wandern gehen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich wollte wandern gehen
In Gottes grüne Au'n,
Ich wollt' hinaus zum Thore
Und mir die Welt beschau'n.

Dicht an dem Thor ein Häuschen
Steht da, von Reb' umrankt,
Und in dem offnen Fenster
Ein Mägdlein schwebt und schwankt.

Wie eine Rose blühte
Die Dirne schön und hold,
Von Ranken licht umflossen,
Umglüht von Abendgold.

Sie schaut zur Straß' herunter
So lieb und gnadenmild,
Als blickte auf mich nieder
Ein Muttergottesbild.

Ich stehe wie bezaubert
Und blick' hinauf zum Haus --
Ich bin an's Thor gekommen,
Doch nicht zum Thor hinaus.
