by Luís de Camões (c1524 - 1580)

De vuestros ojos centellas
Language: Portuguese (Português)
Alheio.

De vuestros ojos centellas,
Que encienden pechos de hielo,
Suben por el aire al cielo,
Y en llegando son estrellas.

Voltas.

Falsos loores os dan,
Que essas centellas tan raras
No son nel cielo mas claras
Que en los ojos donde estan.
Porque cuando miro en ellas
Lo como alumbran al suelo,
No sé que seran nel cielo;
Mas sé que acá son estrellas.

Ni se puede presumir
Que al cielo suban, Señora;
Que la lumbre que en vós mora,
No tiene más que subir;
Mas pienso que dan querellas
Á Dios nel octavo cielo,
Porque son acá en el suelo
Dos tan hermosas estrellas.
