by Bernhardt Severin Ingemann (1789 - 1862)

Dagen går med raske fjed
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Dagen går med raske fjed,
dagens børn må ile.
Aftenrøden bringer fred,
nattens stjerner hvile.

Lykken gækker store, små,
leger med guldterning.
Lykkeligst at hvile på
er fuldendte gerning.

Lidt dog store, mindre små,
kan til gavns fuldbringe;
viljen ser Vorherre på,
giver kraften vinge.

Lykkens lunefulde spil
leger ej med sjæle:
Alting føjes, som Gud vil -
her er trygt at dvæle.

Blomst skal bære frugt engang,
høst skal følge sommer.
Dag er ej så travl og lang,
aftenstund dog kommer.

Lad ved dag kun op og ned
lykkens terning rulle!
Fandt ved kvæld kun sjælen fred,
gik det, som det skulle.
