by Oscar Panizza (1853 - 1921)

Nachtigall
Language: German (Deutsch)
Trill're Herz o Deine Töne
Hell wie's in den Bäumen klingt,
Trill're sie um jene Schöne,
Deren junges Herz zerspringt!

Denn die kleinen Menschen horchen
Gerne ein verblutend Lied,
Wenn im Häuschen sie geborgen,
Wie es draußen zuckt und sprüht.

Hörst du, wie die Kleine singet,
Hörest du die Nachtigall,
Deren junges Herz verspringet
Für die frohen Menschen all'?

Ist Dein Lied auch lauter Weinen
Und nur Nachtigallenschmerz, --
Ach, es hören gern die kleinen
Menschen ein verblutend Herz.

Confirmed with Oskar Panizza, Düstre Lieder, Leipzig: Albert Unflad, 1886. Appears in Verschiedenes, page 108.
